Appropriate planning and preparation of surgical procedures is an essential part of treatment with dental implants. This module includes all basic aspects of this preparation: patient information and premedication, preparation of surgical instruments and materials, choosing the right implant and determining the ideal implant position using a stent. The module also explains the step-by-step procedure of placing the implant by applying the correct drilling protocol.

Soft tissue management is an essential part of successful implant treatment. In this module, the aspects of soft tissue management previous to and simultaneous with implant placement are discussed.

When a tooth is considered to be irrational to treat and needs to be extracted every dentist needs to take decisions on whether to let the socket heal spontaneously with a blood clot or whether to perform alveolar ridge preservation procedures. In this module you are going to learn all the important decision-making factors and the clinical handling after tooth extraction to chose either between spontaneous healing after tooth extraction or immediate implant placement or alveolar ridge preservation procedures.

A challenging case with congenitally missing teeth involving orthodontics, orthognatic surgery, implantology and prosthetics. This case was treated by PD Dr. Ronald Jung from the University of Zurich.

The patient came to Dr. Thomas Truninger for an esthetic rehabilitation. She was specially bothered by the large black triangles in the anterior maxilla.
